Panama Papers: Mossack Fonseca leak reveals elite’s tax havens
  • A huge leak of confidential documents has revealed how the rich and powerful use tax havens to hide their wealth. Eleven million documents were leaked from one of the world's most secretive companies, Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca. They show how Mossack Fonseca has helped clients launder money, dodge sanctions and avoid tax. BBC
  • The documents show 12 current or former heads of state and at least 60 people linked to current or former world leaders in the data. They include the Icelandic Prime Minister, Sigmundur David Gunnlaugson, who had an undeclared interest linked to his wife's wealth. Gunnlaugson initially said he would not resign as the story broke on Sunday, however yesterday stepped down following thousands of people protesting outside the parliament building in the capital Reykjavik on Monday and opposition parties tabling a confidence motion. BBC.
  • The files also reveal a suspected billion-dollar money laundering ring involving close associates of Russia's President, Vladimir Putin. Also mentioned are the brother-in-law of China's President Xi Jinping; Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko; Argentina President Mauricio Macri; the late father of UK Prime Minister David Cameron and three of the four children of Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The scandal also touches football's world governing body, Fifa.
  • Mossack Fonseca worked with 33 individuals or companies who have been placed under sanctions by the US Treasury, including companies based in Iran, Zimbabwe and North Korea. One had links to North Korea's nuclear weapons programme. BBC
  • In news breaking an hour before Question Time is due to air, David Cameron has said he and his wife Samantha owned shares in an offshore trust set up by his late father, before selling them for £30,000 in 2010. He told ITV News he had paid all UK taxes due on the profits he made from the sale of the shares and said the firm had not been set up to avoid tax. Labour said the PM had been forced into the "extraordinary admission". BBC

Steel Crisis: Sajid Javid - Tata Steel sale process to begin by Monday
  • Tata Steel will begin the formal process to sell its UK plants by Monday, Business Secretary Sajid Javid has said after talks in India. Mr Javid said a number of parties had come forward, but only named Liberty Steel, whose interest is widely known. He said the meeting was "constructive and positive" and had demonstrated once again Tata was a "responsible company". BBC
  • The announcement, last month, by India's Tata Steel that it plans to sell its UK steel business, putting thousands of jobs at risk, hit as the latest blow to an industry which has seen a succession of job cuts. At the start of this year, Tata, which currently employs 15,000 in the UK,announced plans for 1,050 job cuts, on top of the 1,200 it axed in October 2015 and the 720 it cut last summer. BBC
  • The steel industry says it has been hit by a combination of factors: high UK energy prices, the extra cost of climate change policies, and competition from China - there have been allegations that Chinese steel is being sold in the UK at unrealistically low prices.
  • A BBC summary on what is going wrong in the UK steel industry is available here.
Migrant crisis: Greece deports migrants to Turkey
  • This week Greece began deporting migrants to Turkey as part of an EU plan aimed at easing mass migration to Europe. Most of the 202 people people who left lesbos and Chios in Greece's first deportation on Monday were Pakistanis.
  • Under the EU's deal, for each Syrian migrant returned to Turkey, the EU is due to take in another Syrian who has made a legitimate request. BBC
  • On Tuesday, Greece paused its deportation of migrants to Turkey. Migrants in Greece continue to arrive faster than they can be sent back. BBC
Junior doctors dispute: Fourth strike hits NHS in England
  • On Wednesday, junior doctors took part in a fourth walkout in their long-running contract dispute. The 48-hour strike started at 8am on Wednesday as the doctors prepare legal challenges to the government's decision to impose changes to their pay and conditions from this summer. Doctors are providing emergency cover, but 5,000 operations and procedures have been postponed.
  • All-out stoppages will take place from 08:00 to 17:00 BST on both 26 and 27 April and will see junior doctors refuse to staff A&E departments as well as emergency surgery and intensive care. BBC
US election 2016: Cruz wins Wisconsin in blow to Trump
  • Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz has decisively won the Wisconsin primary, complicating front-runner Donald Trump's path to the nomination. In the Democratic race, Bernie Sanders scored a strong victory over Hillary Clinton in the Midwestern state.
  • Mr Trump leads the race, but could fall short of the number of delegates needed to secure the Republican nomination. That would mean a contested convention where voting for candidates starts again from scratch.
  • Party leaders are concerned that Mr Trump would be a weak candidate in the general election and could harm other Republican lawmakers on the ballot. Polls show that the real estate tycoon is extremely unpopular among key voting blocs including women, Latinos and young people. BBC
EU referendum: Government to spend £9m on leaflets to every home
  • The government is spending more than £9m on sending a leaflet to every UK household setting out the case for remaining in the European Union. It says the 14-page document, to be sent to 27 million homes, responds to public demand for more details about the EU referendum by setting out the facts behind the government's position.
  • Boris Johnson said it was wrong to try to "stampede" voters while Nigel Farage said the document was "full of lies". UKIP leader Mr Farage said the exercise was a "scam" and reinforced his view that the EU referendum on 23 June would be "defined by the battle of the people against the political elite".
Female frontline soldiers "will put lives at risk", says ex-army chief
  • Allowing female soldiers to fight on the frontline would be a "foolish move" that would be "paid for in blood", an ex-army chief has said. Former Colonel Richard Kemp said that women would be a "weak link" and claimed that many soldiers would quit if the "social engineering experiment" went ahead. The government is currently reviewing the ban on women in close-combat roles. BBC
Brussels attacks
  • Two weeks ago, on March 22nd, 32 people were killed and dozens injured in attacks at Brussels international airport and a city metro station. Twin blasts hit Zaventem airport, with 11 people reported killed. Another explosion struck Maelbeek metro station near EU headquarters an hour later, leaving about 20 people dead.
  • The Islamic State (IS) group said it was behind the attacks in a statement issued on the IS-linked Amaq agency. BBC
  • Today, Belgian prosecutors have released new footage of the key surviving Brussels airport attacks suspect, showing the route he took after leaving the area. They have asked members of the public who saw the man to come forward. BBC
Iain Duncan Smith resigned as Work and Pensions Secretary
  • Two weeks ago, on March 19th, Iain Duncan Smith resigned as Work and Pensions Secretary, denouncing £4bn of planned cuts to disability benefits as "indefensible". Mr Duncan Smith complained of pressure to "salami slice" welfare, saying the latest cuts were a "compromise too far" in a Budget that benefits higher earning taxpayers. David Cameron said he was "puzzled and disappointed" at the resignation. BBC
Anna Soubry - Conservative MP for Broxtowe and Minister of State for Small Business, Industry and Enterprise - wiki, twitter
  • This week, Anna Soubry visited the Tata site in Corby, Northamptonshire, and said that the site has a future and she is determined that it will be long-term and sustainable. She met workers as well as the local management team and union officials to talk about the site’s future after last week’s news that Tata plans to sell its UK assets.
  • The minister was given a tour of the mill and spoke to workers during her visit, who she said were understandably very worried about their jobs but remained ‘very positive.’ She said: “For Corby it is critical. There are over 500 people who rely on this place.” The minister’s visit came on the same day that business secretary Sajid Javid was in Mumbai for a meeting with Tata group chairman Cyrus Mistry for an update on the sale process of Tata Steel’s UK operations. Chris Bryant - Labour MP for the Rhondda and Shadow Leader of the House of Commons - wiki, twitter
  • This week Chris Bryant reported the leading group vying to pull Britain out of Europe to the Electoral Commission for allegedly making misleading claims in their own voter leaflet. Chris Bryant, Labour’s Shadow Leader of the Commons, made the complaint over literature delivered to thousands of households over the last few weeks. While the leaflet was produced by the Vote Leave campaign it contained none of the group’s branding – and directed people to a website which Mr Bryant suggested seemed “deliberately designed to appear impartial”. Pro EU campaigners claimed the leaflet made “at least” eight misleading claims despite suggesting it was presenting “the facts” about Britain’s membership. Independent
Douglas Carswell - UKIP MP for Clacton - wiki, twitter
  • This week, UKIP MP and Tory defector Douglas Carswell discussed his hopes for the 'out' campaign, and talked about divisions in the Tory party over Europe. Mr Carswell told BBC One's The Andrew Marr Show: "I think what's important is that we make sure people realise David Cameron's deal is pretty duff."
  • Speculation has continued to surround the likely positions of Cabinet ministers when the referendum campaign finally gets under way. Reports suggested that employment minister Priti Patel is likely to back a Brexit, while Mr Cameron had personally appealed to Justice Secretary Mr Gove not to join the campaign for the UK to sever ties with Brussels. Mr Carswell said UKIP leader Nigel Farage had an "absolutely vital role" to play in reaching out to people, but added: "We also need other people”. Telegraph
Irvine Welsh - Novelist and playwright - wiki, twitter
  • Irvine Welsh is a Scottish novelist, playwright and short story writer. He is recognised for his novel Trainspotting, which was later made into a film of the same name. His work is characterised by a raw Scots dialect and brutal depiction of Edinburgh life. He has also written plays and screenplays, and directed several short films.
Ruth Lea - Economic Adviser at Arbuthnot Banking Group and Co-Founder of Global Vision - wiki, twitter
  • Ruth Lea is a British political economist who is currently Economic Adviser to the Arbuthnot Banking Group and non-executive director since 2005. Elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and of the Royal Statistical Society, Lea has been admitted a Freeman of the City of London as well as a Liveryman of the Curriers' Company, and was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2015 New Year Honours List for "services to the financial and economic sectors".
  • Is it fair for David Cameron to use taxpayer's money to support only one side of the EU Referendum debate?
  • Can we ever have a fair and just society when it seems that only the "little people" pay their fair share of tax?
  • Should the government nationalise the British steel industry?
Sadly, BBC's This Week will not follow Question Time on BBC One, due to Parliament being in recess. This Week will return on April 14th.

Huge list of the Shortest Watch playlists

Hey guys.
A couple days ago u/swagbucksthrowaway posted a list of Watch playlists that he had compiled. One of the main requests in the thread was to find the playlists with the shortest times. His post and your requests inspired me to see what I could do myself.
We haven't heard anything back from him yet and if we do I'll gladly step aside, but in the meantime I wanted to share this with you all.
